New Life

The parsley has been here all winter, waiting.  Now, as it prepares to flower and set seed for a new generation in our herb garden, it will also support the next generation of Eastern Black Swallowtails.  It seems that a butterfly found the parsley patch sometime this week and laid this lovely golden egg.  Over the space of the next month, it will hatch, grow, become a chrysalis, and take wing as an adult butterfly.  How full of promise is spring!
