More Pottery, August 2012

A few recently-picked-up pieces from the pottery studio:

1. A bowl, blue with the rim dipped in eggshell

Blue Bowl

2. My garden mug.  Recently, I made a garden mug for a friend who frequently commented on my probably-overly-enthusiastic Facebook posts about my love for pottery.  I thought he should definitely get a mug, both for that and for being awesome.  I liked his mug so much that, while I was waiting for its first fire, I started a second one for myself.  The tan color is the color of the clay and the veggies and sunflowers are painted on in slip and outlined with a carving tool before the first fire.  Then the whole thing is dipped in clear glaze and fired the second time.

3. A white flower cup.  This is  am similar process to my garden mug, only I dip the whole piece in white before painting.

4. A white cup with a story.  This cup is for a friend who is a singer-songwriter and all the images on the cup come from the lyrics to a song from one of her CDs.

Is the grass greener?

Things you can lose track of...

The world keeps on spinning.

How fun! Great blog. I haven’t forgotten about our trade. I was just telling a friend last night about it, and realized it is high time for me to give it some real thought. Have you thought about what you would like me to make for you? Love from Bandon.

  2. So cute! I love all the pictures. And the blue speckles. Reminds me of rocks and eggs and such.
